Cable
High Speed Internet Service
Cable broadband internet service has its good points
and bas points as well. When it comes the actual bandwidth speeds you
can't go wrong, but it can be unreliable at times and more expensive
than DSL.
Cable Broadband Service is a great service if
you can get it. While Cable is priced higher than
typical ADSL service, it does offer more bandwidth.
One of the major differences between DSL and cable
service is that cable broadband service is a shared
medium. In other words, all of the users in your
neighbor are sharing the bandwidth. This may cause
some problems if there are many subscribers in your
area and everyone is on at the same time. The
bandwidth will decrease as more users come on line
with the cable internet service too.
Another potential problem with Cable Broadband,
because it's shared, is security. Since everyone in
the neighborhood is sharing the same internet
connection, professional hackers or people that work
hard at sniffing may be able to gain access to your
home computer. If you use a firewall with your cable
broadband service you should be alright, but none
the less it may be cause for concern.
Lastly, with cable broadband the bandwidth is
typically much higher than DSL and there really
isn't any distance limitations with cable broadband
(within reason). |
