Nashville-area firefighters will climb in memory of those who fell on 9/11

The inaugural Nashville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. after a memorial ceremony around 8:45 at The Pinnacle at Symphony Place building in Nashville. Three hundred and forty-three firefighters will climb the equivalent of 110 stories in remembrance of the 343 New York City firefighters who died at the twin towers on Sept. 11, 2001. Firefighters participating in the event will wear full turnout gear and climb for specific victims. Each will be given a badge with the name and photograph of one of the firefighters who perished. Participants will be grouped into companies of seven, climb 30 stories three times and finish on the 17th floor. Firefighters who would like to participate can register at www.nashvillestairclimb.com. All of the $25 entry fee goes to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
